Optional tier above the network

Portfolio of Networks layer

The Portfolio of Networks is an optional oversight tier for a national or regional body that looks across several networks. It is its own workspace. It has authority over every network beneath it: it decides what it sees of each one, which projects are exempt, which national priority each roadmap item serves and which gate checks every project must pass. Networks and member organisations cannot hide anything from it, change its view or leave; only it can remove a network.

When you need it

Only when one body oversees several networks, such as a national programme over regional networks of organisations. Most organisations never need it: start with Essential and add layers as you grow.

What this layer decides

  • National priorities, assigned to network roadmap items
  • A required gate standard that applies in every network and member organisation beneath it
  • What it sees of each network, and which projects (if any) are exempt
  • Which solutions go into the national library
  • Answers to escalations from networks
